Update/Halloween Story

Writing has been a source of comfort for me for many years, and I want to continue nourishing this passion of mine more consistently now. I have been really busy because of school, but I hope to continue sharing my poems, photographs, short stories, and thoughts with you all from now on. I am honored by everyone's support, and I want to make my blog more original and appearance in design and its overall appearance. This is a project that will hopefully be completed by July and give the blog a hopefully beautiful look designed by me :). To begin the renewal of this blog, I wanted to share a Halloween story I wrote last year in 9th grade for my high school's Halloween frightwrite story contest. I won first place. Enjoy, and look out for more of my writings in the next few weeks :) Thank you, and let me know what you guys think in the comments below! Feedback is always welcome :')

Revenge
The water canals along the cozy cobblestone streets shone crystal clear. A dark forest green Christmas tree with ornaments lined with gold, sparkly borders towered the city. And the sun was just beginning to set, the sky sprinkled in shades of rose, violet, and touches of orange. Teenage girls raced with their bicycles stocked with flowers down the streets, screaming playful insults at one another. It was a jolly holiday day in Amsterdam.
An artist by the name of Antonio painted by the street corner. His gaze on the canvas was focused. Antonio was a handsome, twenty-something year old man of a lean frame, and long, thin fingers. Identified by his artist beret and dimple smile, the young man was very tender and shy. He entered the Amsterdam artist neighborhood only recently from Colombia, and his Dutch was very weak. Antonio excelled in portrait painting, and he often took portraits of random locals who strolled the streets of Amsterdam in the evening. People always marveled at his fine portraits. However, one foggy, dull evening, after he picked up some groceries and walked towards his apartment, Antonio saw a tall, pale woman with a tan-colored coat saunter down the road. She was scowling, and her features were very sharp. An urge of desire overwhelmed Antonio. He wanted to paint her face, with the right textures, the right colors, that very moment. He inhaled the chilly air sharply.
He ran to her, and tapped her shoulder. Antonio was breathing heavily; he was excited. “Hey, my name is Antonio. I am an artist, I paint portraits. I want to paint your portrait and capture your expression. I will give it to you for free. Just give me thirty minutes.” The woman gave him a nasty glare and gritted her teeth. She was smoking a cigarette. She was a racist woman, and she loathed cultural diversity in Amsterdam. She was one of the few who believed that Amsterdam was meant for only the Dutch. Therefore, Antonio’s broken Dutch and exotic appearance caused her to disrespect him.
“Fine.” She rolled her eyes, and bit her maroon-tinted lips. The woman secretly wanted to see how the portrait would come out, as she was somewhat self-obsessed.
So the next half hour was spent by the thoughtful man and the rude woman. While Antonio polished the woman’s features and gaze on the canvas, the woman smoked her cigarette. As time flew by, her face grew paler and paler, and her eyes drooped down. Antonio was so engrossed in his painting that he did not care to observe the woman while he was finetuning her shoulders, eyebrows, and pale skin tone on the canvas. After two hours of endless finetuning, he smiled proudly to himself. “All done,” he whispered, self-satisfied.  Antonio looked up. He saw the body of the woman, leaning against the chair. Her arms looked feeble. The crescent moon glistened against the midnight sky, and Antonio lightly shook the woman. He thought that she had fallen asleep. “Come on now,” he whispered. “I am done. Look at this work of art.”
Antonio then checked the woman’s heart rate. There was no beat, and all what was left of her was her frowning face on the canvas, with plumes of smoke engulfing her beauty.
He was never an honest man in life thus far. Antonio quietly left the scene of his painting and shamefully trudged up the steep road to his flat. There was no point in taking the stranger to the hospital, as she was already dead for a good two hours. “After all, it is her fault for smoking,” Antonio thought to himself as he guiltily looked down at his painting. He stared at the dull aqua eyes and the long, wavy black hair on the canvas, and he placed the canvas in his closet, under a heap of miscellaneous things. Tears streamed down his face and his eyes were bloodshot red. He blamed the woman’s death on his obsession with painting. That winter night, for the first time in a long time, Antonio cried himself to sleep.
The day started off wrong. The next early morning was gloomy, and Antonio was in a sullen mood. When his friends talked about casual matters, he replied cruelly. People were wondering what was wrong with him, why his dimple-smile vanished from his face in just one day. Antonio painted impassionately. His attractive hazel eyes transformed into a dull blue color, and a voice constantly hissed in his head that day. A woman’s voice. It was raspy and slurred, and Antonio carefully listened to that voice. The voice carried into the late hours of the night, when Antonio was trying to fall asleep. “Paint a portrait of yourself, a self-portrait,” the voice snickered. The voice controlled Antonio; his instinct told him to obey that voice. So he did. He got up from bed. He prepared his paints and canvas, and outlined his face with a pencil, using a mirror as a reference. “Now add some red paint to the canvas. Add a cigarette. Add smoke,” The voice laughed eerily. Antonio obeyed. He finished the portrait. He stared at it feverishly; he was clueless. “Now get a knife and slice your neck.” Antonio’s body stiffened and his hand trembled, but after a while of hesitation, he had no choice but to slice his neck. It was as if he was possessed by the voice. Blood gushed onto the canvas. And as he died painfully with his self-portrait in his arms, the cigarette-smoking woman entered as a ghost into his apartment. She laughed mockingly. Her name was Revenge.

How to Use Sources of Motivation to Create a Fullfilling Life

You never actually know about how much you are capable of doing. With work ethic and the vibrant iota of fervor, the simplest person can rapidly progress and accomplish many of his/her aspirations. The key to potential success is based on only three things: individuality, confidence, and emotional intelligence. Individuality is the inner drive to stand apart from the crowd, and pride in your work gives you courage to do so. Emotional intelligence includes ignoring conflicts that are detrimental in your life plans. And to those stressed about not having a passion, you know, that one thing that you think your friend devotes her entire life to, do not worry. The de facto goal in a fulfilling life is to do things. Many things. All sorts of things. Passion is the accumulation of all of these activities, and it will arrive with time.

I must admit, it is difficult to stay motivated all the time. If people were constantly inspired, everyone around you would be living happy, diligent lives, not instantly, but perhaps in a few years. My personal sources of encouragement and desire include my mom, YouTube, and BlogLovin, a platform where people's blog posts are professionally streamed. Why YouTube? Isn't YouTube merely a time-waster to today's media-addictive youth? Not to me. YouTube contains videos with genuine, real people actually talking. People who air their videos on YouTube might as well be a live person, except the person is communicating his/her thoughts via a screen. I have been wanting to have a vegan, non-dairy, lifestyle for quite some time now; however, I was worried I would not be able to commit to this strict diet. YouTube inspired me because people just like me tried this diet for the very first time and sincerely talked about its benefits. YouTube gave me that push that I needed to become vegan; I did not let the dissatisfaction of my parents with my dietary lifestyle affect my decision of fully becoming a proud vegan.

BlogLovin taught me how to present myself, with a sense of style and personality, confidence, and a professional side to my writing. Furthermore, it encouraged me to deeply think about my future careers, and know that I should do something I love to do when I get a career. ^_^ I follow mostly fashion and photography blogs on BlogLovin, and the bloggers seem very ardent with what they do.

My mom encourages me to be adventurous and let go of my fears. She literally tells me that I am strong enough to do anything. I remember that when I was in fifth or sixth grade, we went to Lake Tahoe with another family. I had never skied before, and it felt frightening to me. The high, steep slopes of snow taunted me, and I was anxious of the thought of going up there on a zipline cart. My mom was adamant on me skiing. After endless excuses, I finally listened to her because I simply had to. She was starting to become stubborn and angry in front of the public, in the food court room at the Boreal skiing place. I was with a group of 8-12 year olds in my first skiing class, and I loved it! I learned how to ski step-by-step and I felt a wave of satisfaction when I reached the bottom of the fluffy, snowy hill which was now my friend. After this initial skiing trip to Boreal, my family went there again after a few months. I skied again, with just me and the teacher in a private class. He skied downhill very quickly, and I learned so many techniques from him. Skiing is now one of my favorite sports thanks to my mom!! I love it, except for the heavy overalls we have to wear :(

So, passion, in my opinion is about working hard and surrounding yourself with sincere, honest people who have willpower. But do not worry about not having a passion. Go with the flow of a heartfelt life. And miracles will happen. :))

Top Ten: What I am Thankful For

I made a top ten what I'm thankful for list two years ago in December, and I decided to do it once again. When is a better time to feel gratitude.. Thanksgiving Day? ;) Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

1. AHS Marching Band
I am thankful for my high school's marching band because there are really sweet, diligent and hardworking people in this band. It never stops amazing me how hardworking these people are, in everything they do (marching, attending rehearsals all the time, maintaining their grades.) Also, this band is kinda like my second family. I mean, it is not like everyone in the marching band is my bestie, but we stick together all the time, through the bad and good times.

2. DSLR Camera
I love taking photos and capturing memories.... and the DSLR camera makes every scene pretty, so whenever I look at the beautiful photos it captures, I smile.

3. Heartfelt Notes/Letters (whether it be thank you notes, happy birthday cards, school yearbook signatures, etc.)
I love receiving and reading long letters because I never get tired of reading the same genuine one over and over again. Also, I feel relevant and special...

4. Fuzzy Socks
Fuzzy socks are cozy and I love the feeling of extra warm feet.

5. Documentaries
Some documentaries are actually pretty fast-paced, and after I finish watching a documentary, I feel accomplished, for some odd reason.

6. My Kathak Dance Teacher, Pragya Aunty....
I like Kathak dance for its fun spins/fast feet and elegance, and I feel happy that I have learned it, and I would not have learned this dance without the guidance of my teacher :)

7. My Mom
My mom gives me so much love, and so many things! She gives me food on the table, warm hugs, and she is always there when I need her. She never hesitates with helping me with anything, and she always puts me before herself.

8. My Close Friends
My friends are so understanding. They listen to my ramblings, even the weird ones; they understand that I need to get my words out, and most of them know me so well. Their jokes and comments make me crack up, and my life is 100 times brighter with them around.

9. Getting Lost in a Good Book w/ Hot Chocolate -(that is so good that reading 3 hours of it feels like 15 minutes of reading)

10. Role Models
Instead of getting frustrated by the people that are smarter than me, more detail-oriented than me, more determined than me, more athletic than me, etc. , I admire them. I use them as a source of motivation to work harder and try my absolute 110%, so that I can be regret-free, happier, and prouder of myself. :))

15 November 2015: My Enjoyable Experience at Stanford University

I wish I brought my camera because the Stanford campus was so beautiful! Tall, shady trees with golden and purple colored leaves adorned the field. The weather was lovely as the sun was out, but the air was breezy... It was actually raining heavily, early morning. I visited the Stanford campus today, Sunday, November 15, 2015 for an engineering class field trip. It was an engineering event for only girls. The purpose of this field trip was to promote engineering for girls in what would otherwise be a male-dominated career choice, and I must say I learned quite a lot from the experience. We received information about college and STEM jobs from successful Stanford grad and undergraduate students. Most of them were dressed very professional and businesslike, and one woman even started several start-ups in the Silicon Valley. To be honest, before attending this field trip, like many other common people, I thought that engineering was boring. However, after talking with educated female engineers, my outlook on engineering changed completely. I am still not completely sure if I want to pursue the engineering career pathway, but I found engineering to be interesting. I mean, there are so many diverse fields to explore: biomedical, mechanical, civil, computer science, etc. These fields impact the world positively. Approximately a decade ago, Columbia Business School performed a research study, in which they requested students to assess the feats listed on the resume of a fake "Howard Roizen (male)." At the end, the students called Heidi Roizen "more selfish and less desirable" than Howard. Nevertheless, Heidi and "Howard's" resume were exactly the same. Sexism is a major conflict in the Silicon Valley itself. Also, studies have shown that women in engineering make a third less than men. Women engineers are very courageous and diligent; they have overcome many biased stereotypes saying what women should and should not be. Also, they have probably been one of the only women in their engineering college classes. For that, I applaud these women for bringing a new face to the future of engineering, and for doing their own thing, despite outside barriers or stereotypes. The women engineers that talked to our group of high school freshman told us that they were remembered as the only female in the class, and they obviously deserve to be remembered, because of their open, highly enriched minds.

"It is an honor to share this moment with you"

"It is an honor to share this moment with you." These are the words I heard fall out of a man supposedly in his late twenties... he quite calmly said this quote to another man also around the same age, while the two were thoughtfully enjoying the astounding view from the top floor of the legendary Eiffel Tower in Paris, France. I obviously had to evoke meaning from this beautiful phrase that I honestly simply heard, not eavesdropped! The quote touched my heart; it touched different corners of it that haven't been touched before for a long time. I wish I could say that quote to someone with 100 percent meaning because the quote is so powerful. Why so powerful? Because the view from the Eiffel Tower and the Eiffel Tower itself left me awestruck. It bothers me to see self-centered qualities in copious amounts of people I meet; however, the quote taught me a lesson, a moral that a quote sparkled with generosity leaves back a longer, stronger memory than a quote cursed with evil anger and selfishness. For instance, if the man was talking trash to his companion, i would have easily forgotten the bad words/trash. Nevertheless, I still remember the quote "It is an honor to share this moment with you." I also learned that happiness not only comes from oneself; it also comes from the people you share a loving, personal relationship with. One must be selfless enough to appreciate that the presence of a particular person/people makes them feel as if they are on cloud nine.

Powerful Words

Currently, I am in overpopulated, exotic India with my extended family, and well, one of the main vehicles used here for public transportation is an autorickshaw. One has to pay money to the driver to get to a particular location. My mother, grandma, sister, and I went to a mall by autorickshaw, and as awkward as this may sound, I actually learned the genuine colors of generosity, kindness, and beautiful human nature from my mom in that short safari to the mall. Usually, from my personal experience, India's general population do not treat autorickshaw drivers with equal respect and attitude as they treat hmm maybe someone who holds a high job position or someone who is attractive. This is because of solitary arrogance (autorikshaw drivers are relatively poor.) Nevertheless, as soon as my sister, mom, and I sat in the autorickshaw, waiting for my granny, my mother simply asked the driver about his day. She politely questioned him if whether we were his first ride, as it was late morning, and he carefully replied no; he stated that he started taking rides from early morning itself because riding an autorickshaw is the only way that he can survive and eat a decent amount of food to remain nourished. My mom then slightly smiled, murmuring that he was very conscientious. During the 10-15 minutes ride to the mall, my mom and grandmom were engaged in a conversation, and surprisingly, the autorickshaw driver pitched into the conversation with ease, saying one or two statements in relation to the conversation (saying that the mall is extremely crowded on Saturdays and Sundays, etc.) Additionally, my grandmom was discussing with my mom on how I loved autorickshaws so much when I was an infant since I loved the feeling of the breezy wind on my cheeks while the ride was in motion. She also talked about how I moved around in the autorickshaw with childhood joy, happiness from the heart in the smallest things. Afterwards, the autorickshaw driver unintentionally let out a light-hearted laugh. During the course of approximately a quarter of an hour, I assimilated so many beautiful qualities from both the driver and my mom. From my mom, I learned that starting a conversation with someone, even a stranger, can give you an opportunity to catch sincere traits. For instance, my mom learned that one should be hardworking to truly achieve their goals in life. And I absorbed hard work from the man, the driver, the whoever, the stranger!.... Now, while typing this, after approximately a few hours of riding the vehicle, I am more diligent in anything I do-important or not so significant... even if just a little bit :)

My Amazing, Inner Emotional Experience at the Anne Frank House Museum / Mr. Dussel

I can genuinely connect to one of Anne Frank's most popular quote: "In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart." Whenever I read this quote, my heart thumps. I feel as if Anne is within me because her quote is my personal life lesson. I strongly believe that there is beauty and good in everyone's hearts, that an individual naturally has both bad and good qualities, and one must embrace the good qualities even if they are deep deep down and hidden. My religion teacher has also reinforced this moral in me. She teaches the entire batch of students about the Mahabharata, a religious piece of literature that has a vital moral. The moral that there is a fight between good and evil within oneself, but that good always wins. It is so so amazing how Anne had such beautiful thoughts and ideals regarding human nature at such a young, tender age, even when she lived during a horrifying time in history. She is my role model.. I love her so so much :) I visited the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam to learn more about the Holocaust because of my interest and curiosity about it, but instead I learned not only more about the Holocaust but also treasured lessons of humanity from a powerful young girl..... It is absolutely outrageous and unfair how so many souls lost their lives with injustice during the Holocaust..I hope that the world keeps this in memory forever, for all the children, men and women, and sincere helpers who died.....Anne's voice is so remarkable that it itself speaks for the millions of Jews that died during World War II.... God bless her :-)
Fritz Pfeffer and his son Werner Peter Pfeffer

I especially enjoyed the Fritz Pfeffer (Mr. Dussel in Anne's diary because Dussel means idiot/goof in German-she didn't really like him) exhibition that recently opened in the museum (April) because it included a lot of unknown facts and opinions about Mr. Fritz that are essential for people to know. Essential because how he is portrayed in Anne's diary is completely different than how he is described by his family. For instance, check out the video on the righthand side on how Mr. Fritz's son emotionally recalls memories of his father with Miep Gies, the 20-something-year-old helper who gave the people hiding in the Secret Annex (the Frank family, the Van Daan family, and Mr. Fritz Pfeffer) food and other items needed for survival. There was a video (that I unfortunately can't find on YouTube) playing in the exhibition room in the museum in which Werner Peter Pfeffer, Mr. Pfeffer's son, mentioned his dad as a deeply religious and kind, loving man who was willing to help anyone. Mr. Fritz Pfeffer married Vera Bythiner in 1921, and the couple had Werner Peter in 1927. They both divorced in 1933 and Fritz received custody of his child. Fritz then met and fell in love with a woman named Charlotte Kaletta, but the Nurnberger Laws of 1935 stated that marriage was forbidden between Jews and non-Jews, so the two were unable to marry as Kaletta was not Jewish. The couple then moved to Amsterdam; however, in Amsterdam too they were denied the right to marry. In 1938, due to increasing Nazi activity in Amsterdam, Fritz sent his only son Werner Peter from Amsterdam to England by boat to live with the young boy's uncle Ernst. Additionally, Dussel went into hiding in the Secret Annex in 1942 without Charlotte, as she was not Jewish/safe.  In her book ‘Anne Frank Remembered’ Miep Gies describes how she carried letters between Fritz Pfeffer and Charlotte Kaletta:
Fritz Pfeffer and his love Charlotte Kaletta

‘Once a week I would meet Charlotte Kaletta, a charming blonde woman one year older than I. She would give me letters, books, parcels and bits of dental equipment that Fritz Pfeffer had requested. She was not Jewish, and because she no longer had a Jew with her she was in no danger. I told Charlotte that I had to turn over the things she gave me to someone else, who was the one who delivered them to Fritz. I pretended to know nothing about where her fiancé was hiding. However, Charlotte was a discreet and sensitive person; she knew better than to search out information. She never asked anything of me. We exchanged letters and parcels until the next week when we would repeat the process.’
( www.annefrankguide.net )

It is interesting how the way a person looks at you impacts on how you are presented to people. In Anne Frank's diary, Mr. Ffritz Pfeffer is described as a foolish, selfish man (because Anne may have had a few bad experiences with him by chance), when in reality he was probably not, as the Anne Frank House beautifully unlocks Mr. Pfeffer's hidden personality in its exhibit on Mr. Pfeffer. For years, Mr. Pfeffer was portrayed as a not-so-nice man to strangers who read Anne's diary, but I hope that their thoughts change after they know and appreciate his inner beauty :)

A Happy Change

Welcome back my faithful friends! I truly apologize for not posting in a very long time. I wasn't able to keep blogging near the top of my priority list during the eighth grade school year ^_^.

The blog's name is now Moonlit Inspirations. I hope it will forever remain Moonlit Inspirations.

Why, y'all may ask?

July 2015: The future and goal of this blog has now changed. Honestly, my passion for books has deteriorated quite a bit since middle school. I realized by myself that I am a meaningful person, which is both good and bad. Good because I can make long-lasting relationships with people and look at things differently (more deeply), bad because it is hard for me to let bad situations or bad people out of my head. I sometimes think too much and I get inspired by things very easily, so my blog Moonlit Inspirations shares my personal inspirations and hopefully it will inspire you positively. :) There is this really weird fact that I recently discovered about myself: I enjoy/crave the imprint a book leaves on my heart forever rather than the book itself…. :-) …
My inspirations are people who live with a vegan diet, Anne Frank, and Malala Yousafzai…

Ashna Sharma: The author of a simple, delicate lifestyle blog mainly showcasing inspirations from around the world as well as travel blogs. The dream of Moonlit Inspirations is to spread beautiful lifestyle all around and to keep people inspired and generous all the time, anywhere. This blog is like an outlet for me because I do not talk much and I find it easier to communicate through writing. No matter how busy I am and/or how infrequently I blog, I am very certain that I will never stop blogging or in simpler terms, sharing my inspirations. Because it is heart-warming and touching for me to see how my thoughts and feelings and ideas evolve over the course of my childhood and teenage years. I hope that my posts will spark a smile on your face :) I strongly believe that there is good and bad in everyone, but the good should come shining through... I hope that this blog will touch you deep deep in the heart and make you feel happy happy happy!!+ inspired. I wish you a warm welcome...

I hope you guys know, love, and appreciate the answer as to why I chose to change the blog name :-) Enjoy, I wish everyone a warm beautiful welcome once again!!!

I Go Deep: The Truth About Popularity

- you see one of your good friends and she squeals, giggles, and chats with you for over an hour
- the next day, you go up to her, expecting her to strike up a juicy conversation, but right when you say a casual hi, she walks away.... your cheeks turn BRIGHT red and you feel lame....
- you see her trying to be "COOL" or "POPULAR"............. and talking to a group of gossipy girls
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have seen many 7th graders that I know in my school trying to change their personality just to show people that they are "BAD" or sassy, cool, etc. When people I know try to be "popular", I feel bad :(
I don't feel bad that I lost a genuine friend; I feel bad that someone out there lost there personality, in other words, themselves. Popularity means to be a friendly, bubbly sweet girl/boy who has a lot of friends.. It does not mean to give in to peer pressure, and to suddenly drift apart from that girl with a "hidden" magnetic character.. When I say a "hidden" magnetic character, I mean a person who seems to be unfriendly and quiet by the looks. However, this person has a hidden bubbly personality... For now, popularity might seem like a good thing; I mean duh, you get to have so many friends, and it is also entertaining to hear gossipy rumors. However, later on your gossips won't be listened by anyone, and people won't like you for unnecessary wasting their time by spreading rumors. Imagine, how will anyone have to time to "find out" who likes who in high school? I mean, just be yourself .. because later on, your friends who will stick to you............. Like as you grow older and more mature, you will have fewer friends..... Elementary school: 30 friends, Middle school: 20 friends, High school: 10 friends, and College: 3 real friends :))) So what I am trying to say is that the true meaning of popularity is not how many "cool" friends you have; popularity is how friendly you are with your true friends, no matter how many friends you have.

In my opinion, I think that teens want to be popular so that they can feel wanted or accepted by their peers. However, (this may seem surprisingly), when you crave to feel wanted, you actually have low self-esteem. You constantly want attention, and you worry about your flaws....
On the other hand, when you absolutely fine with not having popularity, you feel wanted and accepted by only one person-yourself. This helps your individuality shine, and you also feel confident about yourself.

I personally feel that the opposite of popularity is individuality. I mean, it is so fun to be unique and have different interests. I mean having unique interests make you do different things, like fun diy projects (decorating a top), or web design. Imagine, when everyone in school has individuality (not popularity), there would be so many amazing things to discuss about! Everyone would have a unique voice and opinion that would be heard be so many people. Additionally, since there would be an environment of beautiful, unique people, no one would worry about being different.

Above all, being your genuine true self to yourself and your friendly, true friends is basically what defines you and you life........ life is meant to be lived with truth ............ "When people laugh at Mickey Mouse, it's because he's so human; and that is the secret of his popularity." -Walt Disney

Lazy Bum Packages

Your idea of a perfect Friday rainy evening is unique, so unique that you can bet anyone that you are a lazy bum package, a one-on-one deal... Sensational, that is one word that can describe you completely.... A cozy fantasy book with warm hot cocoa with marshmallows by the blazing fire in the fireplace comes first on your list... And after a while, you crave to hear a song that makes you want to cry and laugh at the same time? (that's just me.. hehe) The song "Carry on" fills your little space of your own with its lyrics..... "Carry on--oon-oon-nn (didn't know how to type that part....) 1, 2, 3 ... You are a LAZY BUM package, and you GOTTA admit the truth..

Levels of Laziness
1. (Mild laziness.. you are clever)
You really want to water the plants, but the you have trouble reaching to turn the tap of water that runs in your background. Every time you twist the knob, even for a split second, you always end up standing straight and pulling your pants up. You love the outdoors; however, at the same time, you are lackadaisical. It's so sad on how one wrong allele from your parents came to you or maybe got mixed together, resulting in you leaving your interests of gardening behind and your dreams of becoming a professional gardener getting CANCELED. (oh please, dude/dudette, don't become a gardener.. but if that is your dream, oh well..) XD

Your Lazy Bum Package:

Song: Fireflies by Owl City

Beverage: Pink Lemonade Mixed With Hot Cocoa With Whipped Cream And A Cherry On Top (okay, so "mild lazy people" are CONFUSED AND SLIGHTLY CRAZY! BE MORE LAZY, MILD LAZY PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Book (gotta be a good one cuz from Ashna's favorites): Tokyo Heist by Diana Renn
Mild Lazy People, check out Tokyo Heist's book review here: http://updatesfromanerd.blogspot.com/2013/07/tokyo-heist.html

ENJOY MILD LAZINESS, MILD LAZY PEOPLE!

2. Medium Lazy People
Medium Lazy people have an amazing personality, at the same time genuine. It is pretty obvious for one to see their heart beating out of their chest with an urge to say something humorous and snort and laugh, despite their obsession over jackets. Seriously, medium lazy people (I must admit that I am one) wear the same jacket to school almost every day of the week, and this is only because of their feel of coziness, which is also in their hearts. See, when one wears a comfortable jacket tightly knitted with light-weighted wool and heavy stitches of fur, they feel cozy, and they are too lazy to take the jacket out; it is just their laziness on unzipping their zipper that stops them from being um like, idk... um, fashionnaaable. (OKAY.) Their medium laziness can have an extreme effect on their future, not only their social school life. For instance, if their boss orders a medium lazy person to take his professional blazer off when all the workaholics are in a meeting, and the medium lazy man adamantly refuses to take his blazer off, he is then fired. Nevertheless, despite all of that jibber jabber I mentioned above, medium lazy people are above all, the most awesome people in the world. LETS'S GET ONE THING STRAIGHT PEOPLES. I'M A MEDIUM LAZY PERSON.. GO FIGURE.

Your Lazy Bum Package:

Song: Carry On by Fun

Beverage: Hot Salted Caramel Coffee (Oh, and a blanket too!)

Book: Any cozy fantasy book which feels like you have read only 10 pages when you have in reality read 50 pages, like Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

3. High Level Lazy People

High Level Lazy People can go to extremes in their laziness; what makes them have an admirable character, though, is their pride in their slothful personality, and they are not afraid or even a teeny bit embarrassed of it. For example, even while standing in line for ordering a triple bacon meat deluxe burger at Carl's Jr., such people, like stout ladies, grab a chair and peacefully lie their buts on the fast-food restaurant chair for pure relaxation. They are not afraid, afraid of teenage girls' cell phones clicking pictures of them to share giggle over with their friends with high-pitched voices. Additionally, out of frustration, they scream for running out of tissue paper in the restroom at Carl's Jr.. Obviously, they are extremely lackadaisical to even reach over a single millimeter and grab it themselves. Their sluggish, inactive lifestyle changes their life, but again, it is their parents fault for passing on the wrong genes.... IMAGINE OUR WORLD FILLED WITH TOO MANY LACKADAISICAL PEOPLE... JUST IMAGINE. IT WOULD JUST BE GREAT IF TEACHERS WERE HIGH LEVEL LAZY PEOPLE..

Song:

The Lazy Song by Bruno Mars.. I never knew such a song existed

Beverage: Some drink to make the gas pass...

Book: How to Overcome Laziness and Achieve Your Goals by S. Alexander Ward (random book I searched up on amazon)

With laziness, sluggishness, slothfulness, or lackadaisical-ness (whatever you want to call it), one can become a lazy bum package and live their life eating Lays Barbecue Chips. Once they ate them in kindergarten, and once again they will eat them at age 100. (old lady voice) I knew I should not have eaten those chips like a high level lazy person.. oh dear Bethany and oh, Martha/////// ;)
~Ashna Sharma
(please do not get offended by the types of lazy people mentioned above... it's just my imagination; it's all fiction, too! .. AND IT'S A HUMOR THING) :D

What type of lazy person are you (mild level lazy, medium level lazy, or high level lazy?) ... I'm medium level lazy ........ LOL. XD

Mr. Moonie..... (THE MOON)

"You have got to be kidding me," your friend, who finishes her homework in a speck of a second, blabbers at you like a blabber-mouthed beluga whale. Furiously typing on the computer keyboard smudged with scented coconut oil your mom applied on your hair a few hours ago, you do your homework and sulk. After homework, you have to make sure that everything is done in your backpack and then.................. YOU SLEEP WITH DARK RED, SORE EYES.

My life has been very hectic for the past few weeks like the short description above (NO, LIKE FOREVER) and I wanted to start a post that portrayed something short and sweet, which will hopefully give me pride on some of my favorites. The moon that I saw laying there supported by the hazy, pitch-black night sky outside gave me hope and determination that something nice will come out of my life, in whatever way you may put it, hope for blogging something fascinating, or hope for my future... This post has no meaning in words; it has meaning in a picture, a picture of black and white. It has meaning in music, of the curves of the golden instrument that gently lets out a jazzy tune out in the chilly yet warm wind or the beautiful, poetic song that wraps up a melody that rings your ears with love. Just embellish and decorate these favorites of mine, probably some faves to become yours soon, in your hearts and sing along with it. Simply go with the flow of these ideas: the moon, the music, and the words of a song. Let it rest in your heart on Valentines Day.

The Moon:

Let the moon (Mr. Moonie) tell you that there is light in darkness. (Good in Evil)

The Singing Alto Sax:

And the alto sax will scream its joy out to you in music because it has to show its emotions. It will not shy away from being heard.

The Song:

The song will wrap everything up, and you will learn that two people no matter how different they are, can always become best friends: poetry and music.

Happy Valentines Day everyone. Share these amazing beauties of the world to your hearts, and then share it with millions of other hearts in the world. <3

Collage Crazy: YA Book Stuff

My YA crazes are kind of winding up in my head like a whirlwind of heavy wind for the past weeks; however, I never get time to read because of school homework and such! So, bookish fan clubs, remember, I do have a passion for YA reads, in midnight or dawn, and I have a dream.. oh yes, I have a dream to the treasure hold of books, (clears throat), otherwise known as the library of grace and prosperity. May YA books be cherished forever and ever by the lord of almighty, and may Percy Jackson, Tris Prior, Tobias Eaton (Lol, I prefer Tobias now, for some reason), Clary Fray, Katniss Everdeen, and Harry Potter and.. more YA characters have a life of love and bliss. (she bows, after making her nerdy yet meaningful speech)
Well, I have a collage demonstrating my passion for YA reads for y'all! Remember, I do not post very often, but my love for young adult book stuff is deep, deep at heart I'd say.
And (da da daa) here is my collage:
(All of the pictures were from the internet)

Enjoy* The collage is my gmail profile picture too ^_^
P.S. I cannot wait for the Divergent movie that it is coming out on March 21, 2014. How are you guys feeling about the movie? Reply in the comments below!

Craftalicious.. Is That a Word?

Merry Christmas Eve everyone! Escape into the moment of merriness, hot Ghiradelli cocoa, a warm fireplace, and crafty enjoyments...
Around the cozy corner of your beautifully decorated house, chaos is surrounded all around you; it is a special chaos though because it is Christmas, a merry one. Your house is the brightest one on the street, and all the neighbors envy your holiday lights. Tick, tock, tick, tock.. It is Christmas Eve, an eve of warm memories and chocolates... yes, you are a lazy bum.. all you do is eat and eat and eat. However, lost away in the crowd of family and relatives, you silently play with crafty items and paper, sitting in an embroidered chair.. Man, you think, did the Christmas angel fill my taste buds with creative, interesting juice?
Yep, guys, this was me and is me... *SUSPENSE* Okay, in the past few days, I got really crafty and even though I was not (clears throat) encouraged to play with art supplies for a loooong time, like uhh all together 3-4 hours, I continued the projects. I was let's say *modestly* staring at truly amazing geniuses who made extremely cool D.I.Y. (do-it-yourself) projects, and I got inspired. And when Ashna gets inspired, well, she gets all crazy and her eyes poof out like a lot and she gets super excited and let me ramble more.. SHE DOES HER SNOOPY HAPPY DANCE!!!! (oooh yeeaaah.. life is HAPPY, HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!! AND TOMORROW IS CHRISTMAS!!!!! YAY-A!!) uh sorry, got carried away there (she mumbles)....
AND MY CUE!...................
Okay, back to business, folks... where was I... oh yeah.
Note: A really good friend of mine and I are making crafts and other items to donate to poor or impoverished children. The two pillows were made by both of us, mainly her, and the jewelry items were made by me for the same cause to donate.
Uhh... The other stuff were by me and for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Only me! (too greedy there, or uhh, um, was i, uh like i don't know) (she mumbles, and it slowly fades away because she is slightly embarrassed and does not know what she should say).........
And here starts my list.. DA DA DAA!:
Disclaimer: I do not want to ruin the happy moment here, but it is essential for me to say this. The descriptions of the crafts and the pictures are put not for me to have for a chance to brag freely (LOL), but for happiness.. Let me tell you, I am not that "good" or "excellent" at crafts or art. Okayy... well to be true, I have a love for painting and watercolors, but I never brag. I am fortunate for the supplies that I have, and these projects were done over periods of weeks; they took my time and money. However, at the end, they did one clear thing. That was giving myself "me" time.
"If there is passion and will, anything can be done. Do what your heart tells you to do; flow like the waves of the ocean, or like the musical notes of a song."
Ashna Sharma~
NOW, NO MORE SERIOUS TIME!!! BACK TO HAPPY TIME!!!
oooh.. happy haapppy!!!

1) Decorative Pillows
My good friend and I made these felt pillows with hard work, but it turned out amazing because the sewing method was created by the friend.... we actually do not know if it is "actual" sewing.. Anyhoo, we sewed the seams with yarn, stuffed the pillows with random cloth, stitched the open end, and decorated the surface with glitter fonts and a boa at the ends to cover the knitting holes. I have a question here folks: Is "sewing" taking two whole minutes and hard strength of grunting to put the needle through one stitch??
Here are some pics of the pillows:

This pillow was very simple, as it was a perfect square..YAY! As you can see, we covered the edges with the black boa and wrote "Merry X-mas!" for a handmade design. I was afraid at first if whether the boa would stick with the liquid glue, but as my friend made pillows like these before and nothing odd happened with them, I trusted her wholeheartedly.

This pillow was done using the exact same method as described above, but it was made in a rectangular shape. Moreover, we, the two besties, cut cloth from a scarf and decorated it, while using the faded-red-to-pink yarn to tie bows and tighten the middle of the pillow. It turned out to be a cylindrical pillow from an original rectangular pillow. If you want any further instructions for this design, please ask me a question in the comments section below.

2) Charm Central

With my hands and a silver chain, I attached cute charms to the holes of the chain as shown on the left. To tell the truth, I attached the charms by twisting the wire in the packaging of the various packed doodads. The result was awesome, especially since I did not spend too much time making one bracelet; perhaps it took 15-20 minutes for an inexperienced crafts person like me.

The necklace shown on the left was done with the exact same method of applying charms. Again, if you guys have any detailed questions or have desire to make these simple, vintage-inspired jewelry items yourselves, you are all absolutely welcome to question me in the comments section below. :D In my opinion, I personally think that the charms I bought from Michaels, mainly the large ones, were very cool, stylish, and vintage-looking.

3) My Room

Currently, I am starting to develop an extreme interest in decorating my room and making it reflect more and more of my personality. I started this craze by changing my bed cover into a black and white bedspread printed black and white like a newspaper. It includes parts and names of places all around the globe; you guys may have had a glimpse of it in the background of the pictures of the two pillows. Other than buying items for my room, I decided to get crafty by creating a handmade collage featuring puppies from my old calender. It barely required any money, only a poster board, which was only 32 cents at Target. (I KNOW, ONLY 32 CENTS!) Throughout the collage making process, I just kept on cutting and gluing pictures and at the end, embellishing it with sharpies, words, and one bow tied with ribbon to personalize it with a unique touch. Moreover, I added decorative tape not for necessity, but for design.
Here is a picture of the collage:

As you all can see, I also layered pictures, like the two dogs at the left. The whole purpose of a collage is to express yourself with pictures, so let the collage represent your creativity, not others.

4) Oil Painting

I am a watercolor artist, not an oil painter. However, as my mom started bringing her oil paintings home from art class, I was not jealous, but I wanted to try using her colors; they were thick and solid, unlike river-like watercolors. I ended up creating a mini abstract piece, at the same time abusing her palette. The palette was full of blended colors all over the place; it was a "beautiful" mess... My mom saw a duck in my painting, while my dad saw a dog. Please reply in the comments section on what you guys see in my painting with your eyes. :D It would certainly be interesting, not interesting but FASCINATING to hear about your sights in the painting. XD

My mom does not really think that these small, craftalicious projects that I do are productive, and from a distance, copious amounts of people may think so too. However, all of this fun rounds up to "me" time; it takes me into a mystical world where I could do anything, anytime and anywhere. One second I am in Mt. Everest, overlooking the flowing hills, and in another second, I am in my cozy bed lying on my tummy, while devouring triple chocolate chip cookies while reading a book printed with old pages... yet there are printed with fresh, black ink.
~I FEEL SO CRAFTALICIOUS! ... (is that a word?)

Merry Christmas From Nerdy Bookworm

From the title, you guys most probably found out that I was hoping to add a small twinge of professionalism to this post.. da da da daa.. Nerdy Bookworm wishes you all a very happy holiday season. May the good angel, in whatever faith you believe in, bless you with love and the magic of friends and family in your life. And here comes Ashna Sharma's favorite Christmas song.. from Taylor Swift! (Look Below)

An Awesome Song Sung by Taylor Swift With Love.. Please listen to this while reading An Angel In A Stranger, if you want to... You will have an incredible Christmas spirit resting in you heart :D

I really wanted this post to be finished at 12:00 AM, Christmas Day. It is 12:04 right now, but it is alright; I was almost on time! XD

Top Ten Sunday?: Top Ten Things I Am Thankful For

The people, desires, and nature that the Earth offers us all round up into gratitude and thankfulness that I give back. Simply, near Thanksgiving Day, December 1st is a day that I uniquely feel most thankful. The top ten list continues on.. well, Top Ten Tuesday sounds more professional.. grr.. WHY IS TODAY NOT TUESDAY?.. grr... Anyhoo.. back to the beauty.. Update: yeah, well uh, I started this post and Sunday and since I was so busy with school, it will get finished today, Dec. 6th on Friday. Hehe.. The Top Ten Things I am Thankful For:

1. My family, obviously.

Mom, Dad, and Sister.. The Mom: A wonderful person who loves you even when you scream and yell at her or act odd. The Sis: HMMM... A somewhat annoying, attention-wanting girl, yet at most times a third grader who tackles you and physically abuses you (I am not exaggerating! ;D) for only wanting some unstructured play involving me going down. However, her intentions are always sweet, and I thoughtfully think that she loves me so much that her hyperness uncontrollably gets out of her constantly beating heart. The Dad: Uhh, a mindful and hard-working man who has love deep, deep inside of him; he just has trouble demonstrating it. In essence, each soul has love for me in various ways, including my mom mystically creating the most yummy food to make my taste buds yell and scream with bliss. And in spite of my humbleness, she gives the best presents.

2. Books

If books did not exist in this beautiful universe, how will people have a filling life? The incredible books stay in your heart years, even decades, after you read them because they teach lessons and morals that can only be understood through words.

3. Friends, only the genuine ones.

Okay, so there is this term called "friends," and some people have millions of them, in real life, facebook, instagram, twitter, etc. I hate, personally I loathe, calling a person a friend even when they have absolutely no positive or joyous feelings for me, whatsoever. It is the genuine friends I am thankful for, the ones that make you laugh when you are about to cry and cry when you are about to laugh.. :D

4. Web Design

I love html coding and adding things to my blog that have a beautiful result; even when I do not have time, web designing always comes to me as a pure passion. I must admit it, web design is extremely difficult! However, designing with limited options using technology is amazing, like getting transformed into a world hidden out there.

5. Watercolor Painting/Art

Painting watercolors is not ordinary art, it is a way of expression, with hard and solid separations, flow, and blend of colors. Without art, I could have been an anti-social girl, with no genuine feeling or expression. Art captures my emotions; art brings me to life.

6. Comments

I adore comments on my blog, no matter if it is harsh feedback or just a casual compliment. Whenever I receive the email notification, I do my snoopy happy dance. (HAPPY.. HAPPY.. OOH YEAH, LIFE IS HAPPY, HAPPY) hehe.. (had to escape into the moment, sorry) I appreciate the fact that someone out there read my post and took the time to read my work and give a comment, so that the whole word can see and appreciate it.

7. Christmas Season

The Christmas season is a time of hot cocoa, a warm fireplace, and of coarse, let me hear a holler, presents! It is just beautiful giving/receiving and enjoying Christmas sensations, the warmth, and the intricate snowflakes floating around the faded light blue sky. Yeah, and the season is perfect for lazy bums like me.

8. Blogs!

Omg! Blogs are so cool, no matter how much they epicly fail. Okay, the coolness of a blog is the fact that someone shared their feelings out loud and added uniqueness to it with design. A brave soul he/she is,  the one who shares their true, beautiful emotions.

9. My Snoopy Happy Dance

I am happy... Really happy.... Oooh yeeaah... Life is so good.. Snoopy happy happy... (Drumroll) happy!! My snoopy happy dance reveals my joy; I love it because it shows that I am a person who would not be embarrassed to do the dance in front of many people. However, I must admit, if I danced in front of all those people, I won't be able to do the dance that well.

10. Book Blogging Community

I love being in a place where people appreciate and are thankful to books and knowledge in their everyday lives. They, the people who unleash their creative imaginations, encourage me to blog with originality and be thankful to the beauties that life offers.

Hope you enjoyed my list! What are you thankful for?
